LA Opera Connects - Opera Camp was absolutely fantastic! Special congratulations to Angelina Barsoumian, Azusa Pacific University BM ‘23 in vocal performance, who was an Opera Camp Counselor (and LA Opera College Advisory Board member), and Rachel Oseguera, incoming APU ‘27 BM in Vocal Performance, who played the title character. It was astounding to see what the students and staff accomplished in two weeks! Any child interested in theater or singing should do this program! Not only do they develop acting, music, and performance skills with some incredible teaching artists, but LA Opera selects projects that introduce important music and social justice issues. After taking Music of the Holocaust with the amazing Dr Nick Strimple at USC Thornton, I was inspired to study Ilsa Weber and I was touched when one of her most poignant songs was woven into this project. Bravi tutti!
